1903 Cadillac Model A
Talk about your horseless carriage! The 1903 Cadillac Model A was introduced as a runabout at the January 1903 New York Auto Show. Later the vehicle was referred to as the ‘Model A’ by Cadillac to differentiate it from the subsequent Model B. The Model A came with or without a rear-mounted tonneau and was powered by a single-cylinder, 98-cubic-inch engine that produced up to six horsepower.
1910 Cadillac Model 30
Introduced in December of 1909, the 1910 Cadillac Model 30 was the first model to be available with a closed body, making General Motors the first U.S. automobile manufacturer to have offered a car with a roof. The engine was a four-cylinder L-head design paired with a simple sliding-gear transmission.
1928 Cadillac Town Sedan
The 1928 Cadillac Series 341A Town Sedan was a rear-wheel-drive road car, with its engine located in the front, and a four-door saloon – what we now call a sedan. It was powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine. As legend has it, the 1928 Cadillac Town Sedan may have been one of the first to be modified as an armored car that was owned by gangster Al Capone. The legend goes further with President Franklin D. Roosevelt having used the heavily armored Town Sedan once owned by Capone.
1959 Cadillac Cyclone
The Cadillac Cyclone is a concept car built in 1959 and the design was heavily inspired by the aviation and rocket designs of the 1950s. The bubble-top canopy was silver coated for UV protection, and automatically opened along with the sliding electrically operated doors. The Cyclone was never mass-produced as a production model. It currently resides within the Audrain Automobile Museum.
1981 Cadillac Seville Elegante Sedan
The 1981 Cadillac Seville Elegante Sedan re-introduced memory seats — a feature not seen on a Cadillac since the late 1950s. This option allowed two stored positions to be recalled at the touch of a button. Also new for the 1981 Seville was a digital instrument cluster which was less expensive than its predecessor the “Cadillac Trip Computer” and featured a digital speedometer and fuel gauge. Engine options changed with the decades too. The V8 engine was now equipped with the V8-6-4 variable displacement technology which deactivated cylinders for improved fuel economy. Puncture-sealing tires were also introduced on this model.
2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine
Cadillac has ushered in every U.S. presidency dating back to 28th President Woodrow Wilson’s inaugural ride through Boston, MA in 1913. The 2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine debuted during President Obama’s inaugural parade on January 20, 2009. Cadillac’s largest vehicle has the same headlights, side mirrors, and door handles as the Escalade, Cadillac’s most luxurious luxury car. In addition, LED lighting extends to spotlights shining on the fender-mounted flag standards.
